IN MY COLLECTION:
The developer of this game is the studio "Appeal" which later became known for "Outcast". At that time, the publisher "Infogrames" bought the ailing label "Ocean Software" and so that something was published under this name, the developer studio "Appeal", under the direction of Franck Sauer, was "forced" by Infogrames to bend and break a game to develop for it. It should be produced and published quickly.
"Appeal" was already working on Outcast and actually had no capacity for another title. Therefore, in a few months, they cobbled together the game "No Respect", also based on a voxel engine. The name was an internal working title and an insider gag which should underpin the displeasure of the developers.
The game was developed under such pressure that nobody ended up developing it more changed the title (not even Infogrames) although it has no relation to the gameplay. The marketing department of Infogrames didn't even know what "No Respect" was for a game and took over everything without questioning.
Since the main programmer was a fan of "Quake" and its multiplayer mode, the game then went in that direction as well. Basically, it's a small arena shooter with vehicles. Because it has almost no story and actually had nothing to offer, it went completely under on the market.
As a conclusion one can summarize: The game is an unloved child which is technically not that bad at all. Franck Sauer gave some more information about the project on his website:http://francksauer.com/index.p…ished-games/28-no-respect
