LATEST FEEDS

I dedicate the first article in the category "GAMES FROM THE OTHER EAST" to the Korean PlayStation 2 exclusive title "Mystic Nights" or also "미스틱 나이츠".

The game was developed by the studio "N-Log Soft" and distributed directly by Sony. It's a typical action horror survival game and was also the first game by a Korean developer for this platform. The development time was 3 years. It was also the first game to support PS2 online functionality. This allowed 4 players to play together in the so-called "X-Man mode" at the same time. In the mode, a "traitor" has to prevail against three other players. In the single player mode the game has 3 different endings. The title was unfortunately never published outside of Korea.

STORY:

The plot of "Mystic Nights" takes place in a secret laboratory in a research facility where various experiments were carried out. After an explosion, the laboratory is overrun by monsters and creatures. The main character and other survivors of the explosion are now trying to escape from the facility. In the course of the story it turns out that the explosion was not a coincidence and that there is a murderer among the survivors.

IN MY COLLECTION:

"FX Fighter" is a DOS 3D fighting game in the style of "Virtua Fighter" which was sold in a bundle with 3D cards like the "Diamond Monster". Originally a port for Nintendo's "SNES" was also supposed to appear and be equipped with the Super FX chip, but was then dropped in favor of "Killer Instinct".

The game uses the "BRender" engine. Rumor has it that "FX Fighter" started out as a tech demo for the engine and then gradually expanded into a full-fledged game.

A small comic for the prehistory is included with the limited edition and was published by Wildstorm Productions at the time. The comic could also be viewed / downloaded from the publisher's website.

A year later it was published again as "FX Fighter Turbo" for Windows. This version should contain two more characters and also "Fatality" moves.

That StarCraft is very popular in Korea is no secret. When the game was released in 1998, there was a real BOOM. Many local developers jumped on the wagon and developed their own real-time strategy titles on it, which were visually and content-wise fairly close to Blizzard's milestone.

Unfortunately, hardly any or only a few of these "clones" have been published in the western world. Nevertheless, I would like to briefly introduce a few of them in this little SPECIAL.
